Emily Avila, Principal
Her career started in television as a news reporter, producer, assignment editor and public affairs director. She formerly managed production of an award-winning weekly medical news magazine, PULSE, which aired on the ABC affiliate in Sacramento, CA, and was syndicated in eleven countries and Discovery Health.
She has been a media spokesperson for major academic medical centers, representing the organizations to national, regional and local media.
She has taught public relations and business communications classes at San Jose State University’s Corporate Training/Professional Development and UC Davis Extension programs. She has written for several public relations and marketing magazines, including as a columnist for the e‐business magazine ClickZ. She is the co‐author of the Internet public relations book “Connecting Online: Creating a Successful Image on the Internet.” This book has been used as a college text.
She was the recipient of the C. Everett Koop American Heart Association Media Award, as well as the International Association of Business Communicators video production and writing awards.
